Shutters or Blinds?

Shutters:
Shutters are solid window coverings made of horizontal slats (often called louvers) set within a rigid frame. They are typically hinged, allowing them to be swung open or closed, either completely or partially. Shutters are usually made from materials like wood, composite, or PVC and are permanently fixed to the window.

Blinds:
Blinds, on the other hand, are more flexible coverings that feature slats, panels, or fabric that can be tilted, lifted, or rolled up to let in light. Blinds come in a variety of materials, including wood, faux wood, metal, and fabric, and are more versatile in terms of design and operation. They are generally not fixed to the window frame.

Which Shutters or Blinds for each room?

Living Room

Recommended: Real Hard Wood Shutters or Venetian Blinds
Why? Real Hard Wood shutters provide a sophisticated look, offering great light control for social spaces. Venetian blinds, particularly in wood or faux wood, add a classic feel and allow for fine-tuned light control.

Bedroom:

  • Recommended: Roman Blinds or Tier-on-Tier Shutters
Why? Roman blinds offer softness and a range of fabric options to match the decor while helping to block out light for better sleep. Tier-on-tier shutters give privacy and versatility in controlling light.

Recommended: PVC Shutters or Venetian Blinds (Faux Wood/Aluminum)
Why? PVC shutters are not affected by moisture and they give excellent privacy while allowing light in at the same time.
Fauxwood or Aluminium ventian blinds are a cheaper method of providing good privacy and light balance. They are also moisture tolerant.

Recommended: Roller Blinds or Café Style Shutters
Why? Roller blinds are easy to wipe clean, and blackout options control heat. Café style shutters give a light, airy feel while providing privacy at eye level.

Bedroom:
